Castello Banfi was built in 1978 founded by Italian-American brothers, John
and Harry Mariani. From the beginning, the two brothers' goal was to...
to create a state-of-the-art winery in combination with the most advanced
scientific tools for the vineyards and wine cellar for production
of top wines.
Soil
The vineyards in the hilly area of the domain have a low to
moderate slope. The soils develop on different types of sediments,
of the clayey sands of the marine Pliocene, deep soils with abundant and
calcareous stones, to the gray-blue clay, which is moderately deep mineral
soils that tend to retain moisture.
Vinification: The fermentation takes place in Hybrid tanks (patented by Castello Banfi)
which are both out French oaks such as Stainless steel exist. The maturation takes place in
French oak barrels 80% in 90-60 hl. and 20% in barriques of 350 l. for 2
year.
